IWC Aquatimer

While I feel that some of the current Bremont watches are bland looking (though pleasing and functional), the new Supermarine 500 does not come across that way. Sometimes you want a diving watch to be more conservative looking and focus on doing its job well rather than being too avant garde. That is why diving watches are important — the watch lover community evaluates them to see how well a given watch maker is able to represent the genre.

Perrelet, a seemingly quiet brand with TONS of potential, is going beyond print ads and marketing materials with this elegant video of the Perrelet Diamond Flower Rotor Watch. Which is a brilliant idea, especially for this model.

Nautica NMX 300 Watch Should Be For Ghost Rider Watch Releases

Is it a bad thing that watch parts are coming from China? Not necessarily. Like most places, China produces good and bad things. In a culture that celebrates speed and volume, as well as inexpensive manufacturing, the common promise has been something like "70% of the quality that you are used to, for 30% of the price." Most manufactures simply can't say no to that. Especially with many local (outside of China) production costs. This fact has resulted in a perception that Chinese goods are not as well made as those costing more. Well, you do get what you pay for. That fact does not always apply to Chinese goods. While China does make a lot-  less than stellar quality goods, that isn't to say they can't get things right when they want to.

Contessa by Eterna promises to be a very exciting launch at this year's BaselWorld show. With fashion trends going towards the more simplistic and understated, these models are the perfect fit. I cannot help but look at the larger, flashier, decadent models that are flashed on wrists worldwide and see their popularity fade. Contessa by Eterna has proven that you can have a fashionable, luxurious watch, complete with diamond accents, that does not overwhelm the wearer. And yet still captures decades of watchmaking tradition.

Bill Paxton Wears IWC Aquatimer Chrono-Automatic Watch In Big Love Season 3 Feature Articles While most versions are in steel. Bill Paxton's Aquatimer is in stainless steel that gives it a better gloss, and more heft. The case is a decent 42mm wide, so as not to make it massive. One of the best parts of the watch is the bracelet. With a very unique design, it gives the watch a lot of character and tapers oh-so-nicely while being integrated with the case. A rubber strap version is also available. The model of this precise watch is IW371928. These are actually of the more rare IWC Aquatimer watches. They are also pretty well priced given the brand and the features. With a retail price of ,700, you can find street prices closer to 00 (online at least). I have a good feeling this watch is also right out of Bill Paxton's personal collection. I do think he is great in his part in HBO's Big Love, but I still can't seem to forget his whiny but charming Spacemarine Character Private Hudson in the movie Aliens.

You'll notice from the profile picture of that this watch is a thick beast. The sapphire crystal alone is 10mm thick! Incredible. The whole watch is 28.5mm thick and 46mm wide. Although big, the watch is made out of titanium, so it is still pretty light at 265 grams. Official depth resistance rating standards require a 25% safety margin, which is why the watch is rated to 20,000 Feet, when it is actually tested to 25,000 feet (7,500 meters). You of course realize that this is all done in pressure chambers as there are no places where the ocean is this deep, or if it is, no reasonable way of testing the watch that deep.

I am fortunate to present you with this special watch review from aBlogtoRead.com guest Mr. Paul Hubbard, a distinguished fellow watch lover and reviewer online. You'll find more of his work at WatchReport.com, and you'll find that these days Mr. Hubbard practically runs the site. This quality review is of a quite controversial watch. Why? Because it is not only a Chinese watch with a Chinese movement (actually the base movement might be Japanese), but it is labeled as such. For a number of reasons some people refuse to accept Chinese watches as being legit brands, part of this has to do with the fact that China is the major source of replica watches. However, you'll find that China makes a lot of the parts that go into high-end European watches, but they don't exactly advertise that fact. Sea-Gull is of the few Chinese watch brands that do a decent job marketing themselves, and offer an arguably good value. Chinese watches are not nearly at the point of quite being competitor watches to Japanese or European watches, but instead offer a different appeal. Here you can get a true-to-life classic looking watch that you don't have to worry about beating up. Take the 40mm wide stainless steel M177 watch for what it is - an interesting interpretation of classic watches from a wholly Chinese watch manufacturer. The price is quite low, easily a mere fraction of comparably styled European watches - but you do get what you pay for. If you explore Sea-Gull's site a bit, you can see that they have gold watches and those with traditionally upscale complications such minute repeaters and tourbillons. These go for many thousands - all from a Chinese maker. I have no idea how those do, but this under 0 timepiece is probably a safer investment. Please see Mr. Hubbard's interesting straight forward review below of his Sea-Gull M177 mechanical automatic watch.

Romain Jerome, come on? I know this watch is intended to be a limited edition of only nine pieces, but what does it mean?' And not just that, but how is it gonna be made? A watch designer friend pointed out that the minute tiny details on the face (like the skeletons) would be virtually impossible to produce - at least with any integrity. This is a weird and delicate watch. Let's assume for a moment that you have a special way of manufacturing it such that it will hold together, fine - then how to you still explain what it all means? The Moon Dust DNA collection, while controversial, it is a line of watches that I can stand behind. Interesting ideas and good marketing, and a unique style to say the least. I don't tire too easily of the "sputnik antenna" -shaped hands, or the moon surface -inspired dial (with real moon particles as you continually point out). Now you bring an oddly named watch with gears and skeletons put into the dial like the apocalyptic result of a steampunk-inspired future.

The focus of this watch is to resolve one of those watch enthusiast dilemmas. "I like the convenience of an automatic watch, but I also like looking at an unobstructed movement." When you invest in an expensive mechanical watch, you wish to view the hand decorated and assembled movement as much as possible. The movement itself reminds me a lot of what you see in the back of an Omega SpeedMaster Moonwatch. Do you agree? This limited edition line will start with a line of just 88 pieces. This is enough to judge if there is enough interest in the brand to move forward with more models. I can't wait to see some actual images of this pretty handsome looking watch that does a good job of getting the "front mounted rotor" right.  The mixture of gold, black, and red trim is very tasteful and utterly masculine. There will be a lot of interested people in Mr. Jouvenot's watches. Their biggest rival right now in terms of functions and appearance is Perrelet, so we will see how the two compare. I look forward to seeing more soon.

Robert Lighton New York has had a line of nice watches for a while. Apparently that will cease to be the case as they are closing that side of the business (I blame poor marketing and distribution). Thus, they are closing out their inventory - and the sale is incredible with 55-75% off already fair retail prices. I was fortunate to learn about the sale from my friend at FratelloWatches, who learned about the sale before me. I don't know how many of the watches are left, but there is a nice selection to look from.

Featuring Perrelet's own Automatic Caliber P-181 Double Rotor, this complication is exclusive to Perrelet. Employing two oscillating weights, to power the translation of time, Perrelet tweaked the visible rotor so that it would work in harmony with the wearer and be visible upon the dial. Looks so delicate - and cast with diamonds - to keep this watch in time. Further crafting the rotor to reflect the petals of a Lotus Flower is, to me, pure genius.

Confrérie Horlogère Presents The ImmenSEAty Watch Movement By Gabriel Salgado

Confrérie Horlogère Presents The ImmenSEAty Watch Movement By Gabriel Salgado

The case is a 42mm, which, combined with its weight and thickness (about 13mm), feels large. After reading all the interest in Rolex's new larger cases and Omega's larger Railmaster (not to mention Panerai's whole line), I can say that this watch definitely feels like it's on steroids. It's not too big in size, especially with the smoothness of its edges and lugs, but the weight gives it a significant heft. This feels larger to the wearer, as opposed to the viewer, who will likely see the watch as a standard-sized piece.

Hulk Smash! Churchill Watch Co. Of London Comes Pre-Crushed Feature Articles

The watch is directly taken out of the Frederic Jouvenot Chronograph Evolution watch known by its front facing automatic movement. The concept is pretty cool, and if you clicked on the link above you can get to know the watch more. I would imagine that all the craftsmanship of the watch adds maybe ,000 to the price of the Revolution phone. The section with the watch is removable from the phone itself. The watch is the coolest part of the Goldvish device, and once removed, takes this luxury device from Bollywood glam to Mumbai slums glam (somehow that analogy just seems to make sense in my mind).
