Maurice de Mauriac Watch Straps 2012 Luxury Items

Not too many brands got me really excited, but of course I have spoiled tastes. Of course some impressed me, but they mostly impressed me for what they offered at the price. The amount of mechanical watch movement makers in China was interesting - and their quality is much better now compared to what it was just a few years ago. US and European watch lovers would be absolutely shocked at the legions of brands they've never heard of. What impressed me was not one specific design or watch, but rather what the brands are capable of. The prestige of the tourbillon is no longer a Swiss treat. Chinese tourbillons are highly available combined with other exotic complications in both traditional and modern form. The Chinese offer true mechanical watch making at prices reserved for captains versus kings. Someone is also always there to remind you that custom projects are encouraged. The Chinese manufacturing spirit is legendary, and anyone with enough creativity and a modest budget can have their dream watches made. Unlike the mostly closed market of the Europeans which only exist for insiders, the Chinese market encourages people with ideas to enter and use local services.Though your ideas will be fair game for everyone else if you play.

I really like the straps on these watches. They look thick and soft, each being alligator. The integration of the straps right to the case is proper. All in all, these are handsome timepieces with a good spirit and design that most people can get behind. Mix in a fancy sounding brand that most watch lovers haven't even heard about and I think you have a pretty cool watch. Prices however are on the steeper side. The Ministry Evolution in steel is ,850, while the 18 rose gold is (,600) and platinum models are even more.

After a few minutes of inspecting the dial I suddenly forgot I was looking at a watch - but rather a machine mixed with the blood of racing horses. I then realized that I was trying to decipher what the watch movement did. In addition to the time, it has a big date indicator, flyback chronograph, GMT hand, countdown timer function, and a function selector. The movement is manually wound with a power reserve of about 70 hours. It is also much smarter than your 8th grader.

I like the titanium more. The weight and finish are immaterial, but the Ti version is thinner and thus more comfortable when resting on a desk.

Reference 145.022 Speedmaster Professional from 1982

These two jumping hour watches from Bell & Ross represent their most high-end timepieces for 2012. In the past, Bell & Ross has offered a few other jumping hour pieces - a style and complication that the brand executes very well. Called the WW1 Heure Sautante (Jumping Hour), Bell & Ross didn't want to just offer one watch in two materials. Instead, the brand decided to offer two distinct dials for the 18k pink gold and platinum models. Both are very beautiful, these are going to be highly limited edition watches.

In the end the Guardian is a fun watch. It takes itself seriously enough and is comfortable to wear. People who like the idea will surely find it and enjoy it. For the rest of you it will be a good talking point. "54mm?!!!" Each of these has a limited production run, and as an automatic the SISU Guardian is ,495 (5 for the similar Swiss quartz movement version).

Holiday Gifts Just In The Nick Of Time!

Maurice de Mauriac has ventured outside of Europe as well to look for straps. Ideally you can visit the showroom in Zurich to see all the cool new stuff, but online ordering should be available as well. The straps are compatible with most watches - not just those from Maurice de Mauriac.

The second watch from newer high-end brand Antoine Martin is the Tourbillon Quantieme Perpetual. It basically takes everything you (may) have liked about the Perpetual Calendar from last year and includes a tourbillon. The new layout of the dial also suggested a regulator style display of time. What is cool about the Tourbillon Quantieme Perpetual? Well it isn't boring, the movement is really complicated and made by Martin Braun, and it is has a super-sized flying tourbillon. Horogasm! I talked about it first here on Centurion.

The Swatch Touch watch retails for 9 and is available online and in Swatch Touch stores. It likely makes a good gift for a youngster and will be a fun watch. You might want to make sure the size works for them and that they like the style of the digital numerals. As a watch produced for a specific purpose I would say that Swatch did a pretty good job, but in the end it does not really offer functionality that buttons and a crown have failed to provide.

I have a lot of respect for the people at Gevril and the Gevril Group overall - especially here in the US. However, this is a watch that I needed to go off on for a few reasons. You can see a lot of the BS in this industry by examining some of the details surrounding this watch and the way it is marketed. Items like this provide a good example at why being an educated watch buyer makes sense.

High Quality Best Cartier-other Replica

The rest of the 51mm tall by 43 mm wide case of the watch is aDLC coated steel that is brushed with slight satin polished rounded corners, giving it a manly yet slightly shiny look and feel. The aDLC coating is supposed to be an improvement on DLC with features such as being highly scratch-resistant and being less prone to fingerprint marks. Just like most Cartier watches, the Santos' caseback is solid and includes the Cartier name in that classic font as well as the model name.

The variably-sized numerals give a retro, funky, aviator feel to the watch. I've worn it for a business meeting, and it works pretty well for that, not too formal, and not at all flashy. One of the options on their site is gold hands, and I'd suggest going that route as the black-bordered ones are less visible than I would like.

Greubel Forsey Tourbillon 24 Secondes Contemporain "Royal Blue" Watch Hands-On Hands-On

Christopher Ward is producing just 250 examples of the C900 Single Pusher with a list price of £2,450 (~75), which is a truly astounding price for a mechanical monopusher chronograph. Consider the Bell and Ross WWI Monopusher which sells for ~00 USD, the Longines L27764213 Single Push-Piece Column Wheel Chronograph at 50, or even the Corum Centro Monopusher which will set you back around ,000. The monopusher chronograph is a rare and expensive complication so it's noteworthy that Christopher Ward has produced one, let alone an example for less than four thousand dollars and still backed by a five year warranty. For those in the market for an interesting, rare and great looking watch, the Christopher Ward C900 should definitely make the cut.

The final design might change a bit, but these renders will reflect how the final versions will look. I anticipate these being a limited production series which we may see in real life closer to the end of 2012. Devon's designer makes it clear that watches from Romain Jerome (going back to designs from Yvan Arpa, as well as their current Steampunk collection) were a major influence in the design of the Tread 1 Steampunk. At the same time, the larger picture of the industrial revolution and core functional concept of the Tread 1 DNA helped inspired the design.

Ignoring the thesaurus-derived spew we can focus on the watches themselves. The design is a bit of a hybrid between some of what Graham has offered in the past. Mainly its famous Chronofighter and GMT watches. When I first learned about Graham watches a long while ago I thought to myself, "cool, but would anyone actually wear these?" Well the answer is yes, people actually wear them. I am pleased to report that I have spotted a fair number of their timepieces on wrists out in the wild - crazy pushers and all.

Calm and low-key IWC Replica Watches

Italian Breil wants one of you to win this Orchestra reference TW1027 automatic watch. The very similar Breil Orchestra TW1020 was reviewed on aBlogtoRead.com here. In a 45mm wide black-toned steel case this is the cool skeletonized mechanical Orchestra model. It features an exposed automatic Japanese Miyota automatic mechanical movement that has been thoroughly skeletonized on the front and back. The dial is still very legible. Attached to this model is a black leather strap and it has a retail price of 5. Enter below for a chance to win one.

Give this notion, and the simple fact that it was a good place to catch people on a daily basis, 60 years ago a small watch repair stand opened in Grand Central Terminal simply called Central Watch Band. It existed to make watch repairs and to replace watch straps. Hardly a store at all, Central Watch lived among florists, food vendors, and news stands. As many of these businesses came and went, Central Watch remained.
